The Wedding Guests
Why I Love this Wedding Photo
From a wedding at Hampton Court House in 2014
This photograph is one of my favourite wedding images from the beautiful wedding Rose & Edward at Hampton Court House some five years ago.
As you will have established, whilst we are waiting for weddings to resume due to the pandemic, I have been dipping into my archives.
This particular image always makes me smile. It's lovely for so many reasons. From a technical point of view, I love the light in this image. The Library at Hampton Court House has double-sided windows, meaning it's a brilliant place for a documentary wedding photographer like me to explore.
My role at a wedding is to tell the day's story, and I love to observe the guests being themselves. My imagination runs wild with this image. I see the two ladies having a lovely time. Perhaps they haven't seen each other for a while, and they have a lot to catch up on.
The Gentlemen, on the other hand, are a little slower at socialising, perhaps.
It's a beautiful image. A Storytelling image. And yes, of course, most of the photos from the day show the total happiness and love between Rose and Edward and their friends and family. But I always love looking out for these exciting moments-within-moments.
