Why I Love this Wedding Photo

New Wedding Suit

From a wedding in Malmesbury back in 2011

Today’s Why I Love This Wedding Photo post is from a wedding I photographed at Malmesbury’s Abbey House Garden’s back in 2011.

Even though this was ten years ago, I remember it vividly, as I remember all weddings I photograph. You will know by now that I’m a Documentary Wedding Photographer, which means I tell the true story of your wedding day through a series of honest, candid wedding photos.

Some of my clients, of course, still choose to have a small number of formal photographs. We get these done quickly and efficiently so you can get on with the most crucial part of your wedding - spending time with friends and family.

However, on the occasions that we shoot formals, I’m always on the lookout for those moment-between-moments.

Pictures like this one always make me smile. This exact wedding image won me a prestigious global award in 2012. But it’s not the awards that count, it’s your wedding, and the most important thing is that you relax at your wedding without worrying about hours upon end of tedious group shots.

I love this wedding picture because it encapsulates the little lad’s personality. He’s happy in his new suit but maybe not so pleased about having to sit still in it for a few moments.

This post is part of my Why I Love this Wedding Picture series where I describe why I, as the photographer, love a particular image or series of photographs. You can, of course, see some full Wedding Stories and even more on the Journal and Wedding Photofilm pages.
