The Happy Guest

Why I Love This Wedding Photo

This post is part of my Why I Love this Wedding Picture series, where I describe why I, as the photographer, love a particular image or series of photographs.

Documentary Weddings

A Guest at this wedding is very much enjoying herself.

From an English Countryside Wedding

I’m taking you back just a few months for this edition of Why I Love This Wedding Photograph.

It was the Wedding of Tom & Shona at their amazing English Countryside Wedding.

This photo is one of my favourites from Tom & Shona’s wedding, a beautifully warm and sunny summer’s day that felt quintessentially English. They truly embraced my documentary style of wedding photography, as did their guests, making moments like this one so natural to capture.

What I love about this image is how perfectly it sums up the day, and the personalities of the people there. This lovely lady, with her radiant smile and elegant outfit, is enjoying a glass of fizz while taking another to a friend. It’s a candid, joyful moment that really reflects the atmosphere.

I always remind my photography students that capturing the moment is key, but it’s equally important not to intrude. I took this shot quickly and moved on, allowing her to continue her journey, glass in hand, without interruption.

I Love this Wedding Photo, and I hope you do too.
