English Countryside Wedding
The Incredible Self-Designed English Wedding of Tom & Shona
Tom & Shona were married at St Lawrence’s Church, Cucklington, before heading to their self-designed (and incredible) marquee wedding.
I think it's true to say that this was one heck of a wedding. While I shot bridal prep with Shona, my assistant photographer spent the morning with Tom and his groomsmen before we all arrived at the church for a very traditional English Wedding Ceremony.
Tom, being in the military, had a traditional sabre arch exit.
What is a Sabre Arch?
A sabre arch at a military wedding is a ceremonial tradition where fellow officers form an archway with their sabres for the newlywed couple to walk under, symbolising support, camaraderie, and protection from their military family. It typically involves officers in full dress uniform, and the last pair in the arch may playfully lower their sabres, adding a touch of fun. This tradition honours the couple's service and is seen as a symbol of good fortune as they begin their new life together.
Once the formalities were done, we headed down the hill for an afternoon of hot sunshine, love, laughter and a lot of partying.
I hope you enjoy looking through these photos of Tom & Shona’s incredible day.
