Clem & Alex say “I do” as Islington Town Hall
I shot the Islington Town Hall Wedding of Clem and Alex on a sunny summer day in North London.
As always seems to be the case at Islington Town Hall, the ceremony was full of enthusiasm and happiness.
It's a beautiful place to get married. The rolling doors atop those fabled steps seem to be a procession of happy smiling faces all day long.
However, even though Islington Town Hall is known for its history and many people get married there every day, nothing is every hurried. The staff and registrars treat every wedding with the reverence it deserves.
One of my favourite wedding photographs I have ever taken is in this collection. That moment when Clem looks at Alex and proclaims, "We've done it!". It's a moment full of happiness, and that philosophy followed the wedding throughout the entire day.
After the obligatory confetti run on the famous steps, the bride and groom and guests headed to another of London's legendary places - The Peasant pub.
As a Documentary Wedding Photographer, I love the different places I get to shoot. The week before this wedding, I was in The South of France, and the week after, in Suffolk.
Each wedding allows me to tell stories through pictures. In the case of Clem and Alex's wedding at Islington Town Hall and after that at The Peasant Pub, there was no lacking of great light to play with and use as an anchor in my photography.
The Victorian Horseshoe bar of The Peasant, nestling in the busy Clerkenwell streets, allowed the guests to mix with regulars. Overall, the ambience was one of sheer relaxation and a "day at the pub with our mates".
A genuinely wonderful wedding was rounded off with some emotional, humourous and poignant speeches on the inner staircase.
