It was a while back when I went to the Hotel Rural Casa dos Viscondes da Varzea Wedding of Jolene and Matt.

Hotel Rural Casa dos Viscondes da Varzea is an incredible, rural vineyard in the North of Portugal. It was an absolute joy to be their wedding photographer for the day.

Hotel Rural Casa dos Viscondes da Várzea enjoys a spectacular location, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves in the heart of the Douro region.

Situated in a carefully restored 17th-century manor house and estate, this charming boutique property offers exclusive accommodation and delicious country food in a delightful rural setting.

It is a sight to behold, and the owner and staff made me very welcome during my stay.

I arrived on Friday evening after taking a short flight from London and picking up my hire car.

The Saturday started with some drinks for the guests and bridal prep before a lovely ceremony, conducted by one of Jolene and Matt's close friends. After that, the wedding party spent a few relaxing hours on the terrace of the main building before heading into the incredibly laid out dining room.

I'd been chatting to Jolene's Dad earlier in the day, and he, being Australian, told me he was a huge AC/DC fan.

This put me on alert after a sneaky check of the playlist for the evening told me that indeed, there was to be some ACDC played. Cue amazing dad-dancing and all-round rocking to AC/DC in a remote Portuguese vineyard.

As an authentic Documentary Wedding Photographer, it was an absolute pleasure to be in Portugal with Jolene, Matt and their guests.

The Hotel Rural Casa dos Viscondes da Varzea lends itself perfectly to my style of wedding photography.

I can leave the clients to enjoy their day with their friends and family, without dragging them off for hours on end, while at the same time getting authentic and honest storytelling images from their lovely day.
