Why I Love this Wedding Photograph

Grooms Speech

Daniel During his Speech

From a Wedding in North Wales

This post is part of my Why I Love this Wedding Picture series, where I describe why I, as the photographer, love a particular image or series of photographs.

This photograph is one of my favourites from a recent wedding I photographed in North Wales.

If you've looked through that wedding story, then you will know it was a wonderful day, sunny and extraordinary for Hayley and Daniel.

My role as a Documentary Wedding Photographer is to capture all those fleeting moments that otherwise go unnoticed. These moments happen so quickly, and it makes me happy to know that they are not lost to time forever. Instead, I have captured them for Hayley, Daniel and all future generations of their family to enjoy.

In this particular wedding photograph, Hayley's Dad has finished his (rather emotional speech), and Daniel is commencing his.

Instead of immediately focusing on Daniel, I always try and keep an eye on any interaction between the bride and her dad at this point. Often there is a hug or a smile.

What I love about this photo, of course, is the multiple stories within stories occurring.

Using a wide-angle lens, I have captured that very touching moment between Hayley and her dad and interactions with everybody else at the top table.

I love this wedding photograph, and I hope you do too.
