Father of the Bride Speech - Why I Love this Wedding Photo

The second image to make my Why I Love this Wedding Photo series from Andrew and Florence at St. Peter and St. Pauls Church, Gosberton.

As I mentioned in the previous post, it was a day of love, laughter, rain and sunshine.

For now, I want to concentrate on the Father of the Bride Speech, which was simply adorable and very emotional.

The speeches were in a traditional format, with Dad going before the wedding breakfast.

As a wedding photographer, I am presented with a different take on speeches every week, which is excellent.

Sometimes Dad says a few words sat at the table and sometimes (as in this occasion) Dad decided to take his place on the dance floor and address the guests from there.

As a documentary wedding photographer, this is great as it gives me a chance to shoot the standard "front on" type shots but also to explore angles and perspective.

In this case, I was afforded the space to go behind Dad and shoot the reactions more clearly - and significant reactions they were too.

It was a wonderful wedding, and this part of the day was a lot of fun to shoot.

Not a "Dad Joke" insight, but a lot of fun anecdotes about Florence's childhood and family ventures.

This is one of those images that works better shot wide, and I love looking at all the faces and reactions.

Each time I look at the image, I see something a little different.

I remember this exact moment, and the guests will too, and hopefully, this image will remind them of that for many many more years to come.

I hope you like what you see, and please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography.
