Documentary Wedding Photographer Norway - The Ceremony
My trip into the Arctic Circle Last July to document the wedding of a fellow wedding photographer, Helge and his beautiful wife, Elisabeth in northern Norway.
A flight to Oslo, followed by an internal flight took me well within the arctic circle to the little remote village of Raftøra, Raften.
It was a fantastic trip, and in this blog post, I'll cover the ceremony and immediate moments after.
Breaking through the clouds gave me the first view of the Fjords and a real understanding of how beautiful Norway is as a country.
I'd never been to Norway before, and for me, having 24-hour daylight and snow on the ground in July was very disconcerting - but amazing to experience.
I drove with Helge and his son (who was also the ring bearer) to the tiny church Digermulen Kirke where the ceremony unfolded. Emotional is not an apt word to use here.
Being an outsider, I had an absolute privilege to see how much love and happiness flowed between Helge and Elisabeth and also their friends and family. Once the ceremony had been completed, Helge, Elisabeth and I jumped onto Elisabeth's uncle's boat for a trip across the Fjord.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, and we didn't see any killer whales, but it was certainly something different from the usual post-wedding activities I'm involved in.
Documentary Wedding Photographer Norway – The Stills
Below are a few of the stills I've chosen as my personal favourites from the ceremony element of the day.
