Asylum Chapel Wedding - An Incredible Nigerian Celebration

A beautiful Nigerian Asylum Chapel Wedding - though the weather had other plans.

It was last July when I went to photograph the incredibly colourful wedding of Farid and Pipp at this legendary South London Wedding venue.

My day started around an hour before the ceremony, where I met up with a very dapper looking Farid and his groomsmen. At this point, the weather was still beautiful, but given it was a July Wedding - the forecast was looking very ominous.

A slight hiccup with the wedding car meant the ceremony started a little late - these things happen, of course.

When Pippa and her bridesmaids arrived, however, all thought of the time and weather were put aside as she looked gorgeous and I could see the tears starting for form in Farid's eyes.

Now, as a documentary wedding photographer, I love black and white wedding images.

However, in this case, there was such a riot of colour and emotion that it made sense for me to see this Asylum Chapel Wedding in all its glorious colours.

Once the ceremony was done, and the congratulations completed, we headed back to Pippa and Farid's home for what can only be described as one heck of a party.

Pippa and Farid decided to step away from the traditional wedding reception and host the day at their own beautiful home once the Asylum Chapel wedding element was complete, and then the rain came. And it didn't stop.

It didn't put any damper however on the rest of the day. After a brief set of speeches, lot's of amazing Nigerian food I left them in the evening dancing away for what I'm sure turned out to be a night to remember for everybody!

I've shot many an Asylum Chapel Wedding in my time, and each one is unique. It is an incredible place to get married.

Below are a few of the stills I've chosen as my personal favourites from the ceremony element of the day.
