Build a Story. Curate a Voice. Present Your Work.
This immersive four-day workshop is designed to help photographers explore the full arc of visual storytelling — from concept to curation and final presentation.
It’s hands-on. Deep. Reflective. And entirely built around working in the real world with real people. You’ll be given time, space, and structure to develop a visual story from scratch, guided step-by-step by Kevin and supported by a small group of fellow creatives.
If you're ready to go beyond single moments and start creating meaningful photo stories, this is the course for you.
What You’ll Experience
Over the course of four days, you’ll:
Learn how to conceptualise and plan a visual story
Be assigned a real subject (local business or community initiative)
Spend a full day photographing your story in the field
Edit, curate, and refine your work with professional guidance
Present your story to the group for feedback and reflection
It’s part workshop, part assignment, part creative retreat — all focused on building your storytelling skills from the ground up.
Workshop Structure
Day 1 – Planning & Observation
Morning: Studio session on planning and conceptualising a documentary story
Afternoon: Guided photo walk around Malmesbury to shift your perspective and begin building narrative awareness
Day 2 – The Assignment
Full day spent photographing a local business, artisan, or initiative
You’ll work independently, building trust and finding the moments that matter
Kevin will check in with each participant during the day to support your progress
Day 3 – Curation & Editing
Morning: Group session on editing and narrative structure
Afternoon: Begin culling and editing your images with Kevin’s help
Day 4 – Presentation & Review
Morning: Final edit, print prep, and presentation setup
Afternoon: Present your completed project to the group and receive feedback
What’s Included
Four full days of guided learning, fieldwork, and group critique
Lunch each day, and three evening dinners (Monday–Wednesday)
One-to-one time with Kevin throughout the week
Access to printing facilities and presentation tools on Day 4
Ongoing community support and feedback from a small peer group
Who This Workshop is For
This course is designed for photographers who are serious about growth. You might be:
A documentary wedding photographer who wants to sharpen your storytelling
A street or portrait photographer looking to build more intention into your work
Someone exploring long-form projects or photo essays
Or simply looking for a creative reset and the space to reconnect with your craft
You’ll need a solid working knowledge of your camera and a willingness to push yourself — but not perfection. This is about process, not perfection.
Venue
