Just a little pull…
Why I Love this Wedding Photograph
From Jade & Ian’s Wedding at Ace Hotel Shoreditch
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you will know that I shoot in an entirely documentary style.
"Documentary Style" means that no images are staged, posed or directed by me.
In all cases, my clients' only responsibility on their wedding day is to relax and enjoy it with the people that matter, their friends and family.
As a full-time professional Wedding Photographer, I've been shooting weddings this way since 2012, and in that time, I've photographed the weddings of well over 650 people.
I explain this here as this particular image, shot at The Ace Hotel in Shoreditch (now The One Hundred) in 2018, may seem a little cliche. You may see similar photos on other Wedding photographers' websites, and, in some cases, they will be genuine, like this one - but in many, it will be a staged shot.
As you now know that none of my images are staged, you may hopefully see the natural humour in this photograph. Jade was a very relaxed bride, and so was her mum.
During the last minutes before they headed to the ceremony room, there was just enough time to rearrange the garter by the bridesmaid and for mum to have her dress fastened.
Documentary Wedding Photography is all about you, the bride and groom, and your friends and family. It should never be about the photographer.
I go out of my way to stay out of the way, ensuring that natural moments like this are captured faithfully, sympathetically and, in many cases, with a dash of humour.
Take a look at my latest wedding that I recently shot here in Wiltshire (or follow me on Instagram), and don't hesitate to contact me if you want photography of your wedding that tells a story, allowing you to be a complete part of the day.
