Indian Wedding Photography in North London - Day 1

The Wedding of Harpreet & Manmohan

Indian Wedding Photography in North London - Day 1

Late October saw me heading to North London to photograph the two-day Indian Wedding of Harpreet and Manmohan.

Day one of the celebration was held at The Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Luton and Harpreet's family home.

I had organised my second shooter to spend the early morning at Manmohan's home whilst I spent time with Harpreet and her family in Hertfordshire.

I have photographed many Indian Weddings, and I adore them. There are many mini elements of the day, each having a small but significant part in the celebration.

I drove from Harpeet's home to The Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Luton, where the main ceremony occurred. It constituted the "meeting" of the families and the wonderfully religious ceremony itself.

Once the main ceremony finished, we returned to the family home for a small reception and gift-giving ceremony.

For me, the most evocative part of Indian Weddings is the Vidaai.

What is the Vidaai?

The Vidaai is where, in Hindu Weddings, the bride's family bids an emotional farewell to their daughter as she heads off with her new husband.

It's always a very emotional part of the day that I have to photograph sympathetically as a documentary wedding photographer.

It was a beutiful day, full of colour, emotion and love.

The next day was to be the Western Dance Party in Ealing, and I will cover that in a subsequent entry on this website.

Indian Wedding Photography in North London - The Photofilm

All my clients receive a 4K photofilm, compiled of images showcasing their weddings for friends and family. The Photofilm is perfect, of course, for keeping on smartphones or tablets but, more importantly, as a constant and easily accessible reminder of the wedding day.

Click the play button on the film below to follow the wedding day of Harpreet & Manmohan.

Indian Wedding Photography in North London - Selected Stills

Below are a small selection of my favourite images from this incredible Hindu Wedding.

My clients receive all images in monochrome and colour. On a day with such emotion but noticeable colour, it's a blessing to mix the two mediums to tell the wedding day's story.

Destination: North London
Venue: Guru Nanak Gurdwara
Setting: Indian Wedding
