Sulgrave Manor Wedding - Charlene & Ben
Charlene and Ben commissioned me a little while back for their wedding at Sulgrave Manor.
According to Historic Houses, Sulgrave Manor is a Tudor and Georgian house built by direct ancestors of George Washington, the first President of the United States.
It was my first time shooting here, and it is a delightful wedding venue near Banbury in the Oxfordshire countryside.

I started my day at Fawsley Hall Hotel where Charlene, her mum and bridesmaids were getting ready.
A few glasses of champagne, a little muesli (of course) and lots of laughter before we all headed over to Sulgrave Manor for the main event.
Once we got there, the weather looked bleak. Lots of umbrellas were on show, but the weather gods smiled on us as once the ceremony was completed, the sun was shining down.
The wedding ceremony itself was in the magnificent 16th Century manor house.
As a documentary style wedding photographer, I choose not to use large flash guns and obtrusive lighting. Instead, I strive to look for the natural and appealing light in any given environment.
The House at Sulgrave Manor has an abundance of beautiful afternoon light that I feel leads to a sense of timelessness in the photographs.
A touching wedding, with a lot of love and emotion.
After that, the guests spilt out onto the luscious gardens and barn areas for the rest of the drink’s reception. As the rain kept away, the guests entered the barn for some very witty speeches followed by plenty of dancing long into the night.
It was lovely to shoot the Charlene and Ben’s wedding at Sulgrave Manor.
