Don’t Cry, Dad
Why I Love this Wedding Photograph
From a Wedding in my hometown of Malmesbury
Regular readers of this wedding photography blog will know that I often post single images intending to let you know why I, as the photographer, like them so much.
You can, of course, see complete weddings throughout the Journal and the Wedding Stories section.
This image came back to my thoughts recently while looking for some content for my Instagram Feed. I posted it there and had lovely responses, so I thought it ought to make my “Why I Love the Wedding Picture” series.
There isn’t much to explain, of course. It’s a wonderful moment with Dad as he embraces his newly married daughter moments after the wedding at St. Aldhem’s Catholic Church in Malmesbury.
As a Documentary Wedding Photographer, I can almost feel the tangible nature of this picture. It is bristling with emotion, raw feeling, joy and happines.
You certainly can’t orchestrate this, and that is only right. My style of photography is totally unposed, uncontrived - though I look for happiness and romance throughout the story of the day.
I hope you like this wedding photograph as much as I do.
