Asylum Chapel Wedding Photos

Tom is Greeted by his Dad

As mentioned in my previous blog post about Kajal & Nik’s wonderful Asian Wedding, I’m migrating some older wedding stories that never made it to my new blog system.

Today, I am sharing Fiona and Tom's wedding ceremony that I photographed in 2014 at the incredible Asylum Chapel in Peckham, London.

Originally built in 1826 as part of the Licensed Victuallers' Benevolent Institution, this chapel in Peckham survived the ravages of World War II, albeit with its windows shattered. The chapel's exposed brickwork and ethereal light streaming through clear glass panes offer a hauntingly beautiful venue. It has been reborn as a popular location for arts events and weddings.

As a Documentary Wedding Photographer, I’ve shot over 750 weddings since my first one in 2008. As I go through my archive and this task of creating a story here for as many as I can, I can remember each of them vividly.

Tom and Fiona are actors, and there was a very thespian spin to the afternoon. It’s always lovely to photograph at The Asylum Chapel, and over the years, I’ve probably photographed twenty or thirty weddings there. Revisiting these wedding photographs reminded me of the lovely day Fiona, Tom and their friends and family had on that cold November day in 2014.

NOTE: All my clients receive every image in both black & white and colour.
