Why I Love This Family Photo

This post is part of my “Why I Love this Picture” series, where I describe why I, as the photographer, love a particular image or series of photographs.

The most beutiful way to gently wake up

This image is one of my favourites from a recent Family Photoshoot in London. It’s the very first frame I shot on the day.

As I arrived for the session, the little one was waking from his morning nap with Dad, and I simply raised my camera, composed the shot, and captured the moment.

Ultimately, my love for shooting documentary family photography in a fully candid fashion stems from my desire to tell real stories.

It's about creating a visual narrative that resonates with genuineness, emotion, and truth.

These candid snapshots are not just photographs but chapters of a family's story, preserved forever in their unadulterated beauty.

As a father myself, I understand these moments. I know how precious they are and how fleeting the time feels.

I believe in the story when shooting a commission like this. Of course, the overall story of the day manifests itself in a start, a middle and an end. However, an individual photo can also tell a story.

In this case, it is the story of connection, love and bonding between Dad and his baby boy.

I Love this Family Photo, and I hope you do, too.
