North Yorkshire Wedding - Sopie & Ash

Sophie and Ash asked me to shoot their North Yorkshire Wedding and a pleasure it was too.

The wedding ceremony was to be in the nearby St Eloy's Church, Great Smeaton which is literally at the bottom of the garden of Sophie's parents home.

I drove up the night before and stayed in a local hotel before starting my day, as I often do with bridal prep photography.

It was a beautiful day, and the light streaming into the house during the morning was glorious.

Sophie spent time with her mum, who handed her a family gift.

After that, it was Sophie's turn to hand gifts out to here bridesmaids.

Once Sophie was ready, it was time to take the short walk to the church.

St Eloy's Church, Great Smeaton, North Yorkshire is a tiny little church, so there was a small marquee outside where the ceremony was being shown live to other guests.

Once the beautiful ceremony was over, Sophie and Ash made their way to the lychgate for the traditional Yorkshire "coin throwing" element. In 450 or so weddings I'd never seen that tradition - it's fun! Confetti and drinks on the lawn commenced as the sun beat down even harder.

The New York Brass Band added to the great fun and sense of occasion, as did the beautiful speeches of course. Now, something I have seen several times is The Singing Waiters. There are lots of them in the country, and these were amazing.

Not only were they brilliantly talented musically, but also very funny and ensured everybody got involved. Once the meal was completed, and the heat came down even more (to the point where some guests were keeping themselves fresh with the air conditioners) it was time for the dancing and partying.
