My Fujifilm X70 Took a Tumble!
I won't go over the details here, instead, have a look at the video below which I've posted on my Youtube Channel.
It got me thinking ... I really do love this camera, and I've always hankered after an upgrade.
I have no idea what's in the pipeline from Fujifilm but if there was to be a Fuji X80 or X70s, or whatever, I'd be at the front of the queue to purchase one.
I talked about the Fuji X70 quite a bit on this website, and as I prepare to head to the Cheltenham Festival again tomorrow, it will be the only camera I take with me for the day.
In an upgrade, I'd love to see:
An F2 lens
Fully articulating screen
1/8000th mechanical shutter
Full range of Film Simulations
Of course, I realise that the cameras main selling point is it's size so it may well be impossible for Fujifilm to do any of these things and retain the form factor loved by so many Street Photographers around the world.
Here are some of my images taken with the Fuji X70 and in some cases coupled with the Wide Angle Conversion Lens:
Sadly, the X70 has been discontinued, though there are second-hand ones out there and occasionally some pop up on the Fujifilm Refurb Store.
I'm not sure whether it was poor sales (it's competing in a very crowded segment that also includes mobile phones, I guess), or something to do with the sensor availability but it would be great the X70 line could be revived.
Fujifilm have released some larger cameras recently, notably the X-H1 and GFX of course - both of which are great for their target audience - maybe.....just maybe, there could be something for us tiny-camera lovers in the future :-)
If you are a lover of the Fuji X70, as I am, then you are probably also wondering about an upgrade. Well, all we can do is cross our collective fingers and hope for the best I guess.
In the meantime, I'll shed a little virtual tear for my X70:
And Finally….. Are you a Wedding or Street Photographer?
I’ve spent the last year or so planning the first ever X-Weddings Conference. It will be in Bath, England on the 12th & 13th of June.
We have a top lineup of speakers and you can learn more by heading over to https://www.x-weddings.co.uk
